Goods from China Subject to Section 301 Tariffs Effective July 6, 2018
Some 818 tariff lines related to goods from China are now subject to a 25 percent tariff in addition to the general (column 1) duty rate. The tariff is being imposed in response to a Section 301 U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) investigation that determined China forced the transfer of U.S. technology and intellectual property to domestic Chinese enterprises.
In addition to the first list of products already affected, there are two more lists of goods from China that could be added following public notice and comment process. However, companies negatively impacted by the additional tariffs can petition for an exclusion.
